US President Trump has announced he is increasing duties on items brought in from Canada after the province of Ontario broadcast an anti-tariff commercial featuring late President Ronald Reagan.

In a online post on the weekend, the President described the commercial a "deception" and criticized Canada's officials for not pulling it before the MLB finals.

"Because of their serious misrepresentation of the reality, and unfriendly action, I am hiking the Tariff on Canada by 10% on top of what they are being charged now," he stated.

Following Trump on last Thursday withdrew from commercial discussions with Canadian officials, the Ontario premier announced he would take down the commercial.

Ontario's Position

Doug Ford Ford declared on Friday that he would suspend his province's anti-tariff ad campaign in the US, advising reporters that he decided after discussions with the Prime Minister Mark Carney "in order that trade negotiations can continue".

He also said it would still run over the weekend, during matches for the MLB finals, which involves the Toronto team facing the LA team.

Economic Background

The Canadian nation is the only G7 nation country that has not reached a agreement with the US since Donald Trump commenced seeking to charge significant tariffs on goods from major commercial allies.

The America has earlier enforced a 35% duty on every Canada's goods - though many are excluded under an existing trade deal. It has furthermore slapped sector-specific taxes on Canadian items, including a 50 percent tax on metals and 25 percent on vehicles.

In his message, sent while he was traveling to Southeast Asia, the President seemed to say he was imposing 10 percentage points to these duties.

Seventy-five percent of Canada's exported goods are shipped to the America, and the province is the location of the largest share of the nation's vehicle industry.

Reagan Ad Particulars

The advertisement, which was sponsored by the Ontario government, references former US President Ronald Reagan, a GOP member and symbol of American conservatism, saying import taxes "harm every American".

The advertisement uses clips from a 1987 broadcast that focused on international trade.

The Reagan Foundation, which is charged with preserving the late president's memory, had criticized the advertisement for using "selective" audio and video and claimed it falsified Reagan's remarks. It also said the Ontario authorities had not requested authorization to use it.

Current Tensions

In his update on Truth Social on the weekend, Trump stated that the advert should have been taken down before.

"The Advertisement was to be pulled IMMEDIATELY, but they allowed it to air last night during the MLB finals, aware that it was a LIE," he posted, while flying to Southeast Asia.

Ford had earlier pledged to run the Reagan advert in all Republican district in the America.

Both the President and the PM will be attending the Association of Southeast Asian Nation in Malaysia, but Trump advised journalists traveling with him aboard the presidential plane that he does not have any "plan" of speaking with his Canadian counterpart during the journey.

In his update, the President additionally claimed Canada of trying to affect an future Supreme Court case which could halt his complete tax system.

The legal matter, to be reviewed by the Supreme Court in the coming weeks, will determine whether the tariffs are constitutional.

On Thursday, the President further lashed out, saying that the advertisement was created to "interfere" with "the most significant legal case"

MLB Finals Association

The advertisement is not the only way that the province – base of the Toronto Blue Jays – is using the MLB finals as a opportunity to criticise Donald Trump's duties.

In a clip published on last Friday, the Premier and Governor the Governor jokingly placed wagers about which side would succeed in the series.

The two leaders consistently bantered about import taxes in the clip, with Doug Ford pledging to deliver Gavin Newsom a container of maple syrup if the Dodgers triumph.

"The tariff might set me back a higher price at the frontier these days, but it'll be justified," he wrote.

In reply, Governor Newsom suggested Doug Ford to restart enabling American-produced drinks to be sold in province beverage outlets, and promised to provide "the state's championship-worthy wine" if the Blue Jays win.

They ended their dialogue both saying: "Here's to a excellent World Series, and a tax-free friendship between the province and California."
