Star Denies Anti-Vax Views Following Voicing Contentious Covid Feature

The acclaimed actor has given his narration to a recent film that casts doubt on the efficacy of vaccines and lauds one-time health official Robert F Kennedy Jr.

The Documentary's Provocative Basis

Called "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is adapted from a bestselling book published by a controversial scientist, who rose to infamy during the health crisis for allegations that the virus was linked to a bad strain of the flu vaccine.

Her writing partner, Kent Heckenlively, has also written books with far-right radio host Alex Jones. He wrote online hailing Neeson's participation in the project.

A Firm Denial

The team of Liam Neeson have provided a comment pushing back against claims that he holds anti-vax sentiments.

"Everyone can understand that misconduct might be present within the pharmaceutical industry, but that cannot be equated to rejection of vaccines," the statement explains. "Neeson has never been, and is not, against vaccines. His considerable work with the global charity highlights his long-held support for public-health initiatives."

The statement noted that the star did not shape the film's narrative and that inquiries about its assertions are best addressed to the filmmakers.

Central Claims In the Feature

As presented, the voiceover read by Neeson features several provocative statements:

  • It claims that pro-immunization voices have insisted on "complete compliance" to government bodies.
  • It argues that "research has become dangerously politicized."
  • Kennedy is shown stating, "The big problem with vaccines is that they simply are not safely tested."
  • It further attacks stay-at-home orders, saying they caused psychological harm that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
  • Concerning Covid vaccines, it cites a report that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "dangerous experiments."

Past Background and Current Issues

The documentary includes a historical film about clinical trials on children, which was later the topic of a formal apology by the broadcaster for violations of guidelines.

In recent weeks, RFK Jr directed the CDC to change its long-held position that there is no connection between vaccines and autism. This assertion is echoed in the documentary, contrary to a fresh analysis from the global health body confirming no such link has been found.

A Past Record of Support

Standing in contrast to the film's tone, Neeson has formerly expressed firm endorsement for vaccines in his capacity as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.

Previously, he called vaccines as "an extraordinary achievement," stating that "The discourse about vaccines in recent years has overlooked how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in history."

The film ends with Neeson's voice proclaiming, "This marks not the end of our narrative. This is the beginning of a different phase."
