Manchester United Set to Secure German Striker Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants

Manchester United are finalising completing the signing for prolific German forward Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer from Bayern Munich.

A Major Signing for United

The forward, with six months left on her deal, has been a consistent goalscorer for both club and country. She has netted over 100 goals for Bayern and scored 54 times in 82 caps for her country. Her arrival is viewed as a major signing for the WSL side.

Her exit from Munich has been anticipated after she was seen fighting back tears while thanking the club's supporters after a victory over Bayer Leverkusen this month.

It was reported in December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its leading strikers. According to multiple sources, the formalities for the transfer are now finalised.

Consistent Goal Threat to Strengthen the Forward Line

The experienced striker's arrival should represent a major boost to the team's forward line. She has been remarkably consistent in front of goal in the Bundesliga.

• Over seven straight seasons, up to and including the last term, she achieved at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
• She claimed the top scorer award in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

Securing the German international coincides with a period when United seem to be building momentum.

Recent on-pitch successes feature securing a place in the Champions League knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.

In the transfer market, the winter break has seen additional activity:

1. The acquisition of Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
2. The contract extension for Japan midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who has become fan favourite since arriving in 2023.
