NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage includes text commentary for the weekend matchups on multiple platforms, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (from 14:00 BST). Also, radio commentary can be heard through designated networks covering another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

We're in the sixth week of the football calendar , following last week's talk about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, each lost their unbeaten records.

Striking during those contests was the amount of penalties each committed. Philadelphia committed them in key moments so they essentially beat themselves after leading by two touchdowns entering the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, who play in London this Sunday.

But it proved good to observe how Denver's QB Bo Nix was able to have that deficit and then lead three scoring drives on three possessions in the fourth quarter, to win the game by four points.

The Broncos boast the top defender in CB their star corner. They are number one in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia are number one in red zone offence, and the Broncos prevailed in that battle.

They executed effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They weren't always rushing extra pass rushers instead they could plug two LBs in the interior before withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel from the outside.

At the start in the campaign, we said during a show how Denver could be this season's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year strongly then excelled in continuing that momentum.

Could Denver be this year's underdog story?

Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has stepped up significantly and new RB JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He's currently 5th league-wide in ground gains (402) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

It's impressive that the coach Sean Payton has "RUSH!" prominently on his call sheet.

That shows that Denver are a squad that wants to prioritize the run, because one can achieve much off the back of that. It slows opposing rushes while maintains in positive down and distances.

This has helped quarterback Bo Nix, who came the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, passing for 29 touchdown passes – second only to a star QB for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert possess the arm strength to throw all over, however they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He boasts incredible arm talent, which is different, plus he's so athletic.

His assets include his movement, being able to throw while moving, as well as using varied release points to deliver the pass as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He is able to throw that layered pass across the middle or over the corner.

As a rookie QB, at 25, he displays a lot of composure in the pocket and is not really fazed by the blitz. He tries to avoid a sack whenever possible and can throw under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and is very decisive.

If you constantly run the ball it consumes time and forces the defence to stay on the field for longer, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defence must cover the field downfield and horizontally. It can be draining.

The quarterback has bitten back with the coach during games at times and it seems Payton appreciates that attitude, that he's a fierce rival. I think it's fun for him to coach a rookie QB that is kind of like play-dough. The coach can truly develop him how he wants to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for him.

Payton owns a Super Bowl and has surpassed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the success the Broncos are having on offence is mostly due to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the combination with Nix helps shape him into who he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person in your ear, to help you through difficult moments and build self-belief.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But are they good enough to face a top squad at its best? Since that was not championship-level play from Philadelphia in their last game.

Currently, I don't think Denver are elite. They're working better than most, that's a good place to be in their division. All they need is to continue this path.

They excel at embracing their forte, which is the ground game, and this is precisely what they must do against the New York Jets in London. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.

The Jets have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (among the worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team yet to win any game.

Since the league began tracking takeaways decades ago, the Jets are the first team to go without any turnovers in five outings, this is kind of shocking considering that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' following Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.

After the upcoming matchup, Denver face a manageable slate up to their break (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and Las Vegas Raiders before the Chiefs.

In their division, the Chiefs are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Chargers at 3-2 so they could make a run at leading the division.

This hinges upon what version Kansas City shows up they face since the Broncos {beat|def
