Edwards and O'Neil are two of the early candidates in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday following the team's ten-game without a victory beginning to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous links to the club - are among the options to be considered by the club leadership.

The manager is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a possible obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town head coach - who made over a century of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a strong contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the club board as they begin the process of appointing a fresh manager.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected contender, although he would be a shock choice given he was released by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham United player is currently unemployed which means Wolves would not be required to provide any compensation.
