Comedian and author David Walliams dropped by publishing house.

The author

Prolific children's author and comedian David Walliams has been dropped by his UK book publisher, as confirmed by the firm.

A spokesman for the publisher stated: "After careful consideration, and following the appointment of its fresh leadership, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing additional books by David Walliams."

Media sources suggest that the conclusion was made after an investigation into reports of conduct deemed unsuitable involving young women.

The firm has not elaborated on the motivations for this action, adding: "It is not our policy to discuss private personnel issues."

A Highly Successful Publishing History

Walliams stands as a most successful children's authors, having sold over six tens of millions of copies worldwide in five dozen languages.

The debut children's novel from Walliams, *The Boy in the Dress*, was published by HarperCollins in 2008.

Some of his titles, such as *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have subsequently been turned into small-screen adaptations.

He has published more than 40 books altogether, including a Christmas book called *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins last autumn.

Television and Literature

His career breakthrough occurred on the broadcast sketch program *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He received an OBE several years ago honoring his contributions to charity and the arts.

This development follows the selection of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive last fall.
